Vote Early or on Election Day

California law allows voters to cast their ballot during the 29-day period prior to Election Day and on Election Day. You may cast your ballot via mail, or vote in person on paper or the electronic voting machine.

 

San Mateo County Vote Center Hours

Dates Open Number of Vote Centers Business Hours
October 5 to October 30* Three Vote Centers will be open. Weekdays 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
October 31 to November 2 Total of forty-five Vote Centers will be open. 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
November 3 (Election Day) All forty-five Vote Centers will be open. 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.

*Vote Centers are closed on Columbus Day, Monday, October 12.

Vote Center locations will be posted in September 2020.

 

Ballot Drop Box Location

As a California Voter’s Choice Act County, all San Mateo County registered voters will receive a ballot in the mail. Vote by Mail ballots may be returned to any Ballot Drop Box in the County, via the US mail, or to a San Mateo County Vote Center.  Drop off your ballot at any of the 37 Ballot Drop Boxes located throughout the County. Locations will be posted in early September 2020.

San Mateo County is looking for low-risk adults to support voter centers during this Covid-19 pandemic.  If interested please sign-up here.  Volunteers who speak a second language fluently are also in demand.  The pay is about $21/hr and includes a paid training period.  More information is available here.
