Update on the League of Women Voters Candidate Forum for CA Assembly District 1 scheduled for Wednesday, October 9, 6:30 pm.

If PG&E proactively has power off in Nevada City on Wednesday night, the Candidate Forum between Elizabeth Betancourt and Megan Dahle  will be canceled as there is no back-up power available to us at the Rood Center.

If the power is on we will conduct the forum as planned.

We have already been in contact with the candidates to try and find an alternative date for the forum in light of the possible outage. We will let you know as soon as we have a new date scheduled.

The League of Women Voters encourages informed and active participation in government. We work at the local, state and national level to protect voting rights, promote voter responsibility, and to raise understanding of major policy issues. The League does not support or oppose any political party or candidate. However, we do educate and advocate on issues based on League positions established after members have studied an issue and achieved consensus. The LWV of Western Nevada County encourages women and men in our community to join our efforts to educate and empower voters, and defend our democracy.

“I’ve always found that the best workers in a political party frequently are graduates of the League of Women Voters”                                                                                                                                                                          -- Eleanor Roosevelt
