From the Sierra Club Delaware Chapter (3/26/18)
We have a chance to permanently ban fracking right now and save the Delaware River! But we can't do it without your participation. This is urgent.
The Delaware River Basin Commission--which Delaware's Governor is a member of--has proposed a ban on fracking and is now accepting public comments! While this is an incredibly exciting milestone, the proposed regulations do not fully protect communities from the dangers of fracking - they still allow for the exportation of fracking wastewater from the Basin to fracking elsewhere AND the importation of potentially toxic wastewater for treatment into the Basin. The DRBC and Governor Carney need to know that we want it ALL banned!
The Delaware river is America's river. It's part of our national heritage and it is one of the last pristine rivers on earth. It provides 5% of America's drinking water. The deadline to submit is March 30. That's THIS FRIDAY!
Whether you want to write up your own detailed comment and submit it directly through DRBC's webform, or want to submit something shorter using this super easy scripted form, please take a few minutes to submit your comments to the DRBC before March 30th!!
Thank you for taking action and for all you do for Delaware's environment!
