Local Government

We support measures to further good government through the support of non-partisanship in local government and the support of legislation which permits increased flexibility in California State law governing general law counties.


The League of Women Voters of the Midland Area supports efficiency and citizen participation in Midland County government.


The League of Women Voters of the Midland Area endorses the council-manager form of government for the City of Midland and supports election by wards.


The League of Woman Voters of the Midland Area supports the use of federal funds within Midland City and Midland County.


The League of Women Voters of the Midland Area believes that the ultimate goal of local adult correctional efforts should be the rehabilitation of the offender.


A defined procedure should be observed when any governmental body in Midland County considers whether a potential gift (e.g. bequest or donation) should be accepted by that body.


The League of Women Voters of Charlotte Mecklenburg members adopted positions regarding transportation, government, education, housing, social policy, environment/global climate change, healthcare reform and human trafficking.
